A provocative exploration of fragility, entropy, and the poetry of wear — executed as a limited series of hand-painted leather sneakers.

Conceptualized and hand-finished by artist Stiles Be, this project sits at the raw intersection of contemporary art and utilitarian design. Beginning with a pristine white leather Vans® Authentic, each pair is transformed through expressive layering of Angelus leather paints, MTN spray paint, and Sakura solidified paint marker. Spontaneous gestures and meditative mark-making turn the surface into a living canvas — raw, intuitive, and entirely unrepeatable.

But these are not pieces meant for quiet display. They are built to stray. To be worn, scraped, bent, and skated hard. As control gives way to entropy, the sneakers develop a unique patina — an evolving record of movement, time, and lived experience. What emerges is wearable sculpture: process art in motion, shaped as much by the streets as by the hand of the artist.

At its core, The Further We Stray suggests that authenticity and character surface not in preservation, but in surrender to transformation. The further we drift from imposed order, the closer we come to something real.
